Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Fare (“Fare,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Fare iOS app and travelwithfare.com. Fare helps you discover standout flight deals and plan trips with friends. Fare is not an airline or travel agency, and booking happens with third parties.
1. Information we collect
Account and profile
Fare uses Sign in with Apple to create and secure your account. We process the account identifiers needed to sign you in and keep you signed in, along with profile details you provide or that sync with your account—such as a display name and whether you have finished onboarding. If you add a profile photo, Fare stores a compressed copy with your account so it can appear to members of Fare Friends groups you join. You can replace or remove it from your profile.
Airports and preferences
We store the home airports you choose to track, which airport you treat as primary, and how often you want fare alerts. Appearance preferences (such as light or dark mode) stay on your device.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store the information needed to deliver them to your device (including a push notification token associated with your account). We may send fare alerts for your airports and Fare Friends alerts when your group is eligible. We also keep limited records needed to send alerts reliably and avoid duplicates.
Fare Friends
When you use Fare Friends, we process group details such as the group name, membership, each member’s display name in the group, profile photos members choose to share, the airport each member contributes, and invite information used to join a group from a shared link (including invite pages on our website).
Subscriptions
Fare Premium is purchased through Apple. Apple processes your payment. We receive subscription and entitlement information needed to unlock Premium features and keep your access status up to date, including updates Apple sends about your subscription.
Support
If you contact us (for example at [email protected] or through Support in the app), we receive the information you include so we can respond.
Operational and security data
Our service providers may process technical logs and diagnostics—such as timestamps, request metadata, and error information—needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot Fare. The app may also keep limited on-device caches so content loads more quickly.
2. How we use information
- Provide, personalize, and secure your account and the Fare experience
- Show relevant fares and Fare Friends trip overlaps
- Send the notifications you enable
- Verify and maintain Premium access
- Operate invites and group membership
- Respond to support requests and protect the service against abuse or outages
We do not sell your personal information. The Fare iOS app does not include third-party advertising SDKs and does not use advertising identifiers for ads.
3. Booking with third parties
When you choose a deal, Fare opens an external booking destination associated with the deal. Those sites and airlines have their own privacy practices. Fare does not sell tickets or complete airline purchases for you.
4. Service providers
We use trusted providers to help run Fare, including:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and subscription status, push delivery, and related system services
- Cloud infrastructure and database providers — account data, app content, and related backend services
- Website hosting — travelwithfare.com, including invite pages and Apple Universal Links association files
Fare also uses flight-data and destination-image sources to build the deal inventory shown in the app. Those inventory workflows use route and destination information for fare discovery and imagery; they are not used to send your name, email, or account profile to those sources.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep account, preference, Friends, subscription, and notification records while your account is active and as needed to operate Fare. You can delete your Fare account in Profile. When you delete your account, we remove account-linked data we control (including any profile photo stored with your account), subject to short-lived backups and any limited records we must retain for security or legal reasons.
Deleting your Fare account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Manage or cancel Fare Premium in your Apple ID subscription settings.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate for a consumer app, including encrypted connections and access controls on account data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
7. Your choices and rights
- Update airports, alert frequency, and notification permissions in iOS and Fare
- Sign out or delete your Fare account from Profile
- Manage or cancel Fare Premium through Apple
- Leave Fare Friends groups you do not own; owners manage their groups
- Contact us about your information at [email protected]
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights—such as access, correction, deletion, or portability. Contact us and we will handle verified requests as required by applicable law.
8. Children
Fare is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.
9. International processing
Fare and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you use Fare from another region, your information may be processed where our providers operate.
10. Changes
If we update this policy, we will revise the effective date on this page and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on the site.
